Alerts and email
The app tells you what happens in your houses in two ways: in the app’s Alerts section, and by email.
In the app
Alerts shows the latest twenty; “Show more” takes you to earlier ones. The unread count updates when you move around the app and every five minutes.
Who gets what
Things to do go to whoever is looking after them: for example a reminder that’s due or an issue assigned to you. News about the house goes to all members: a stay report left after a stay, an issue resolved, a report made during a stay.
By email
Some alerts also arrive by email, from noreply@mail.backtothehouse.com, in the language you chose in the app. That address doesn’t receive replies: at the bottom of every email you’ll find where to write about privacy. In these emails we don’t record whether you open them or tap a link.
Choosing what you get
In Settings, under Alert preferences, you can turn off each category of alerts, and turn off emails altogether. An invitation to a house always arrives by email.
Sign-in emails
The verification code, the password reset and the invitation: we send them ourselves, through Resend, from noreply@mail.backtothehouse.com, like the service’s other emails, without recording whether you open them.
If an email doesn’t arrive
If an alert email doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder: the alert is in the app anyway. Sign-in emails (code, password, invitation) exist only as emails.
